This croissant French toast with almonds is a rich and indulgent breakfast made by soaking buttery croissants in a sweet custard mixture and cooking them until golden and crisp. Topped with toasted almonds and a drizzle of maple syrup, this dish combines flaky pastry with creamy French toast flavor for an irresistible morning treat perfect for brunch or special occasions.

Ingredients

For the French Toast:
4 large croissants, sliced in half
3 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 tablespoon butter, for cooking

For Topping:
1/4 cup sliced almonds, lightly toasted
Maple syrup, for serving
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Fresh berries (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.

  2. Slice the croissants in half horizontally if they are not already cut.

  3. Dip each croissant half into the custard mixture, allowing it to soak briefly so it absorbs some of the liquid without becoming too soggy.

  4. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt the butter.

  5. Place the soaked croissant halves in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and slightly crisp on the outside.

  6. Remove from the skillet and transfer to serving plates.

  7. Sprinkle toasted almonds over the croissant French toast and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

  8. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve warm with fresh berries if using.
