  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups diced apple
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • a sprinkle nutmeg
  • 2 lbs ground lean turkey
  • 3 Tbs tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups strained tomatoes
  • 12 cans kidney beans

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Sauté sliced carrots, sweet potatoes, and diced apples with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, rubbed sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg for about five minutes.
  3. Add ground turkey and cook until no longer pink (5-7 minutes).
  4. Stir in tomato paste and spices; mix well.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes and simmer on low-medium heat for 20-30 minutes.
  6. If using kidney beans, add them just before serving.
