  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/3 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cans tomato soup (10.75 oz each)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Blanch the cabbage leaves in salted boiling water for 12-14 minutes until pliable. Reserve.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Cook rice according to package instructions.
  4. In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, beaten egg, salt, pepper, and a quarter cup of tomato soup mixture.
  5. Place filling in the center of each cabbage leaf and roll tightly.
  6. Layer reserved cabbage leaves at the bottom of an 11×8 baking dish and arrange rolls on top.
  7. Pour remaining tomato soup over the rolls and cover with foil.
  8. Bake for about 90 minutes until thoroughly cooked.
