  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • Fresh strawberries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three round cake pans by greasing or lining them with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually mix this into the dry ingredients.
  4. Divide the batter into three portions. Add melted chocolate to one portion, pureed strawberries to another, and leave one as vanilla.
  5. Pour each batter into prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.
  6. Layer the cakes with cream cheese frosting in between and cover the entire cake with frosting.
