  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted and coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray or use a silicone mat.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, and evaporated milk. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Insert a candy thermometer and cook the mixture until it reaches 240°F, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat and drop in cubes of butter; allow to sit for one minute before adding toasted pecans.
  5. Stir continuously until well mixed and the candy thickens.
  6. Quickly drop spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet before they set.
  7. Let pralines cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until hardened.
