  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / 45°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella (or Italian cheese blend)
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large mixing bowl; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in olive oil, then add flour, salt, basil, oregano, and garlic powder until well mixed.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf; place in a greased loaf pan and top with mozzarella and parmesan.
  6. Cover again with a towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
