  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ⅔ cup whole milk
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • ⅓ cup melted butter (cooled)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ tsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 3 tbsp melted butter (for glaze)
  • 1¼ cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
  • 2 tsp honey
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix into dry ingredients to form dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, brush with vegetable oil, sprinkle with cinnamon, and roll into a log shape.
  6. Cut into equal pieces and allow resting for another 30 minutes while heating oil.
  7. Fry each bun in heated vegetable oil until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes per side).
  8. For the glaze, mix melted butter with powdered sugar, milk, honey, and vanilla until smooth; then glaze the warm buns.
