Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cod fillets (56 oz each)
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1½ tsp fresh grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger until blended.
  2. Place cod fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag and pour the marinade over them. Let marinate for 15–30 minutes.
  3. For baking: Preheat oven to 400°F, line a baking dish with parchment paper, place marinated cod inside, and bake for about 12–15 minutes until it flakes easily.
  4. For pan-searing: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook cod fillets for about 3–4 minutes per side, basting with extra marinade during cooking.
  5. Optional: For a thicker glaze, simmer leftover marinade in a saucepan with cornstarch mixed with water until thickened.
  6. Serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds alongside your choice of sides.
