  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 8 oz brie cheese, sliced
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the Onions: Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add onions, brown sugar, and balsamic vinegar. Cook for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Prepare the Walnuts: In a separate pan over low heat, mix chopped walnuts with maple syrup and toast for 5–7 minutes.
  3. Assemble the Flatbreads: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place naan on a baking sheet. Top each with caramelized onions, brie slices, and maple-glazed walnuts.
  4. Bake: Bake for 8–10 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles. Season with salt, black pepper, and fresh thyme before serving.
