  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, 3/4 cup sugar, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk, egg, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until just blended.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle half of the remaining sugar mixed with cinnamon over it. Add the rest of the batter and top with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Gently swirl through the batter using a knife.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
