  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup store-bought caramel sauce
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup toffee bits (or crushed toffee candies)
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Carefully stir in boiling water until well combined; batter will be thin.
  5. Pour evenly into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool for about 10 minutes in pans before transferring to a cooling rack.
  7. In a saucepan over low heat, warm caramel sauce and heavy cream together until smooth.
  8. On a serving plate, layer one cake with half of the caramel mixture, then top with the second layer and pour remaining caramel over it.
  9. Sprinkle with toffee bits and chocolate chips; let sit for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
