  • 6 medium Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 popsicle sticks
  • Crushed nuts
  • Sprinkles
  • Chocolate drizzle

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Insert a popsicle stick into the stem end of each apple.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir continuously until bubbling and golden brown (about 10 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat and carefully stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Dip each apple into the warm caramel, turning to coat evenly, then let excess drip off before placing on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  5. While the caramel is still warm, add your desired toppings.
  6. Allow the apples to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until the caramel sets.
