  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped Honeycrisp apples
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cast iron skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time along with the vanilla extract; mix well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add this to the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples and half of the caramel sauce gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared skillet and drizzle the remaining caramel on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
